Learn how to curl at England’s premier curling venue and see how easy the sport is to pick up.
In four weeks our coaches can take you from a complete beginner to a someone proficient enough to play in leagues with others.
Curling is a sport for everyone. Age 8 to 80! (And yes, we do have curlers at both ends of this range!). Curling is accessible to wheelchair users, and those with limited mobility, who are all able to play through a number of different stone delivery aids.
Through our four week programme we will teach you the following:
Lesson 1: Basics of the curling slide Slide progression - slide with 2 stones, slide broom on ice, stabiliser with stone, broom with stone Stone release Explain hand signals Practise throwing stone the length of the ice Demonstrate and practise sweeping technique Explain team positions, throwing order. Play a two end game
Lesson 2: Review delivery drills and practise deliver drills progression Practise sliding through cones and at cones to improve aim Practise throwing stones length of the ice. Explain draws and takeouts and have each player practise both Explain team roles and basic rules of the game Supervised match play. Players rotate through positions on each end
Lesson 3 Balance drills Practise sliding to different distances to learn weight control Practise delivering stones at brook just past hog line Practise draws and takeouts at full o length of ice Explain team communication. Hand signals, who calls weight, who calls line and how to communicate it Basic strategy explanation Supervised match play with emphasis on strategy and communication

Balance drills Line of delivery drills Delivery tips from coaches Practise takeouts and draws (progressive hotline and crazy eights) Etiquette explanation Supervised match play emphasising etiquette Post match discussion on next steps, beginners leagues, bonspiels
Sessions last two hours, and will run once a week. All equipment is included. Just bring warm flexible clothing so that you can slide freely! (Jeans aren’t the best choice).
Price for the four sessions is £ per person. Bookings are made individually but if you have a few friends / family members that want to do it at the same then we can group you together on the ice, just let our coaches know when you arrive.
